The BlackBerry Synchronization Service synchronizes various databases between a user’s Exchange Mailbox and a user’s BlackBerry device via the BlackBerry Messaging Agent. The primary databases are as follows:

  • Contacts
  • Tasks
  • Memos

BlackBerry Synchronization Service also synchronizes:
  • Message Settings
  • Message Filters
  • Application databases on the BlackBerry device
  • User Settings such as
    • Screen Options
    • Icon Ordering on the Ribbiin
    • Phone options
    • Audio Profiles

BlackBerry Synchronization Service starts when items on the BlackBerry device are not synchronized. Initialization is started when activating a BlackBerry device. The initialization also synchronizes the BlackBerry device and message store, causing wireless synchronization to occur.
