How to create and use a PIN Broadcast Lists?

PIN Broadcast or PIN Distribution feature allows to send a PIN or text broadcast to BlackBerry handhelds. The document provides guidance on how to create, administer and troubleshoot PIN Distribution process. This document is intended for itrezzoAgent administrator who will install and configure itrezzoAgent in an organization.

Total configuration involves the following procedure:

How to create a PIN Distribution List?

  1. To create a PIN Distribution List, Open itrezzoAgent Administrator Console and expand the EPS container
  2. Select the Mandatory Contacts container located on the left panel of itrezzoAgent Administrator. All available Mandatory Contact Lists(MCL) will be displayed on the right panel
  3. Select one MCL; right click on it, and from the popup menu, click on Make PIN Distribution List. That Mandatory Contact Lists(MCL) will be added to a new PIN Distribution List automatically. This newly generated PIN Distribution List will appear under the PIN Distribution List container

How to add Users to receive PIN information?

  1. To enable a user to receive PIN, right click on PIN Distribution Lists, and from the popup menu, click on Add users. Add PDL Recipients window will appear. From the list of all available users, choose appropriate user, you would like PIN information pushed to. You may use the find bar to locate a user quickly

How to schedule PIN Distribution?

PIN broadcast process pushes PIN to handhelds automatically during the EPS run. So, you may schedule the EPS runs as frequently as your business requires. To schedule PIN Distribution:

  • Click on the Servers container located on the left panel of itrezzoAgent Administrator Console, all available itrezzoAgent servers will be listed on the right panel
  • Right click on the itrezzoAgent Server and go to Properties. Go to the EPS tab and set update schedule as often as you want. Click on OK button to commit the changes and close the properties window
  • Select itrezzoAgent server from the right panel, right click on it and from the popup menu, click on Run EPS Now

How to generate Custom Message Blast template?

To create a message blast template:
  • Right click on PIN Distribution List and from the popup window click on Message Templates. Message Blast Template window will appear
  • You may create a new group or add a new template to the available group or even modify any available template
  • Right click on the default group of templates at the left panel and click on Add template from the popup menu. Message template window will appear
  • Type in Subject and message text and save it

How to do PIN Distribution to handhelds

  • For the first time, handheld pulls/receives all PIN information, it's eligible to. Subsequent time, handheld will pull/receive only fresh or modified PIN information from itrezzoAgent Server via BlackBerry MDS. If a handheld devices is turned off or out of network coverage area, it will pull PIN information later on whenever it is powered on and come with in network coverage area
  • Administrator can push the PIN Broadcast anytime to any user's handheld device, by right clicking on the username and clicking on Send Push Notification from the popup menu

  • A delivery confirmation message will appear showing the shootout status

  • Administrator may disable PIN Distribution to a handheld by unchecking the Push check box. This option is available with in PIN Distribution Lists Recipients window
  • Administrator may disable text broadcast to a user by right clicking on the user Name, and from the popup menu, by clicking on Disable text broadcast
  • To remove a PIN recipient, right click on the user Name and choose Remove User
  • To see which PIN information a user is eligible to receive, right click on the user Name and choose View PDL Data from the popup menu. A new window will appear showing all the PIN records receivable by that user

How to verify PIN Distribution status

  • Use any handheld device that is registered with BES. Open itrezzoAgent within the handheld device
  • Go to the Message Blast and push the menu button. Scroll down and open Show Members
  • A list of Names with PIN information will appear. select a contact by moving the trackball; push the menu button again. Then, select View Entry to see detail contact information

How to troubleshoot PIN Distribution?

When you choose Show Members if you don't see any PIN, troubleshoot PIN Distribution process.

  1. Go to the PIN Distribution Lists container located on left panel of itrezzoAgent Administrator console. Verify Push checkbox is ticked before the user Name
  2. Right click on PIN Distribution Lists and click on Properties
  3. Click on the Test button. You should get a message http://servername/MAME is a valid URL for providing PIN DLs
  4. if the validity fails, set the path correctly. Follow this document to configure MAME
  5. Hit the Test Button again
  6. Hit the OK button

  7. Use a handheld device to test PIN Distribution. That device must be registered with BES. From that handheld device, register using a user's PIN, who is eligible to received PIN Broadcast. Open itrezzoAgent from this device and go to Show Members. If you don't see PIN information, push the menu button, and select Refresh Broadcast list several times. Still, if you don't see updated PIN, push the menu button and choose List Information
  8. Verify whether the server address is accurate. If not, select Override Text List Location and correct the server address. Try the Refresh Broadcast List option once again and finally try Show Members one more time
  9. If this procedure doesn't resolve your issue, send an error log to itrezzo

How to send error log to itrezzo

If you encounter any error and you can not resolve it locally, contact itrezzo support team. To send error log from a handheld device:
  • Start itrezzoAgent, push OK button when you see the error message. About itrezzo window show up after some time
  • Push the Menu button and then scroll down to Send Diagnostic Log and push the OK button. Print some information about the error you encountered and then push the menu button, scroll down to OK and push the OK button
