Personal Distribution Lists in Microsoft Outlook

Synopsis

In a Microsoft Outlook Address Book, two types of objects can be created. The most common is a standard Outlook Contact. The second is a Personal Distribution List. Most Outlook users may also be familiar with Microsoft Exchange Server Distribution Lists which are defined by an administrator and can be shared by many users.

The Personal Distribution List is useful because a user can easily create and manage their own distribution groups.

BlackBerry Address Books also have a construct for personal Distribution Lists. However, the BlackBerry Enterprise Server (BES) does not synchronize groups between Outlook and the BlackBerry address book.
