Global Contact Deletion
The
Enforced Contact Delete capability allows an administrator global deletion of specific contacts from user mailboxes. It would normally be run once, during a single
EPS run to remove the desired contacts. There are several reasons this capability is useful:
- The EPS Task previously pushed out contact information that was incorrect. As a system administrator, you have determined that it is easiest to delete the contact, and let the Mandatory Contact Lists(MCL) process recreate the contact.
- In some cases, two contacts become cross linked and share the same SMTP addresses. The best method is to delete the cross linked contacts in all mailboxes and let the MCL process recreate those contacts.
- An HR manager, or corporate counsel has advised that current employees should not contact a recently dismissed employee. While it is a symbolic step, the contact information for the terminated employee can be methodically removed from every mailbox managed by EPS.
Method of Implementation
Use the following steps to implement
EnforcedDelete successfully:
- Prepare a list of e-mail contacts you would like to delete.
- Go to the itrezzoAgent Server installed folder (By default, itrezzoAgent Server is installed into c:\program files\itrezzoAgent directory in 32-bit Windows or into c:\program files(x86)\itrezzoAgent in 64-bit Windows).
- Locate the itrezzoAgent.dll (you may need to un-hide file type extensions to see full file name).
- Within the same folder where itrezzoAgent.dll is located, create a text file and name it as EnforcedDeleteList.txt.
 Creating EnforcedDeleteList.txt |
- Open the text file EnforcedDeleteList.txt and populate all contacts information; single contact per line, and save it.
 EnforcedDeleteList.txt Example |
- To initiate EPS run, Go to servers container located at the left pane of itrezzoAgent Administrator. On the right pane, select designated server for EPS Run; right click on it. From the drop down menu, click on Run EPS Now.
Run EPS Now from itrezzoAgent Administrator Window |
- Contacts listed in EnforcedDeleteList.txt will be deleted.
- After the EPS Task is complete, examine a sample of mailboxes to ensure that all contacts added to EnforcedDeleteList.txt have been deleted.
- Please note that, it will effect everyone on the server where EPS runs. So, when you are done, please remove or rename the file.
Note: When an EPS task runs and updates a mailbox, all matched contacts listed in EnforcedDeleteList.txt are deleted. If there are multiple itrezzoAgent Servers, the file needs to be placed on each server.
